Cerebral palsy is not a new condition. It has most likely been around since people started having children. The world of medicine did not recognize and study cerebral palsy until 1861. Incidentally, Dr. Sigmund Freud, the neurologist who is known mostly for his work in psychiatry, actually published some of the earliest medical papers on cerebral palsy.
This means that there is an extremley large body of research regarding cerebral palsy, with thousands upon thousands of published papers. Much of this research has been invalidated or reinterpreted as new information is discovered about cerebral palsy. In the last couple decades, the pace of medical science has continued to increase. This site is an attempt to gather together some of the latest research being done on cerebral palsy.
Each section contains links to various studies and research publications. I've attempted to include as many free publications as possible, but some of the sites linked to require a subscription to view the full reports. As is the case with cutting edge research, some of the reports may come do different conclusions on the same subject. Others reinforce existing theories. Either way, it is important work which must be done so that we can help lower the cases of cerebral palsy, and further help those with this condition. Since this website does not provide all the aspects of cerebral palsy, I've also included a links sections which will point you to various other pages available on the web, which discuss other aspects of cerebral palsy.
I hope this website can help you on your search for the latest research concerning cerebral palsy.
